Have You Heard of RootsTech?
“After nourishment, shelter, and companionship, stories are the things we need most in the world.”
- Phillip Pullman

Next week, I will be on my way to RootsTech, joining over 26,000 storytelling and family history enthusiasts. Not only will I be speaking there, but I’ll also be exhibiting and signing copies of my book, Photo Organizing Made Easy, Going from Overwhelmed to Overjoyed. I am beyond thrilled to present the topic of my presentation, which is: The Past, Present and Future Storytelling through Imaging. This presentation will be covering a range of topics, from the ins and outs of preserving your valuable family photos, to how to salvage home movies from the past.
Not only am I excited to speak, but I can’t wait to learn from the plethora of other speakers at this even. Jim Malcolm of Humaneyes Technology is going to be sharing how virtual reality 360 3D cameras will soon be creating an unforgettable memory-capturing experience we’ll be able to relive over and over. Rita Pui Dubey of Canon USA will be reminding the audience of the importance of printing, and how today’s technology is making that easier and more accessible.
It is amazing to think about what is drawing thousands of like-minded individuals to Salt Lake City. I am reminded of the quote above; in today’s busy, fast-paced world, we are all seeking ways to connect with our past and with one another. While technology is always creating new ways for us to interact and capture our most important memories, history keeps unfolding: babies are born, children grow taller, vacations come and go, kittens become cats, loved ones pass away.
All of our stories are crucial threads in the tapestry of life, and RootsTech is a celebration of the fundamental and essential human need to share our stories. I can’t wait to see you there.
